Stow-hypno is situated in the Suffolk town of Stowmarket with two offices in the town centre. It is now in its 6th year in business and in that time has helped hundreds of people overcome a variety of problems and make positive changes.

 

Gavin Roberts, founder of stow-hypno, has lived and worked in Suffolk all his life. For 10 years he worked for Suffolk Social Services, helping people with learning disabilities and mental health problems in residential establishments and in the community.

He studied meditation, yoga, relaxation techniques and hypnosis for many years but it wasn’t until after a profound personal experience with hypnotherapy that he decided to undertake formal training.

Having suffered from a chronic psychosomatic condition for the best part of a decade, and having been told by doctors and specialists that he would ‘have to live with it’, he experienced first-hand the amazing healing power of hypnosis. His 10-year symptoms disappeared after only two sessions of hypnotherapy and they have never returned!

 

Such a life-changing experience inspired him to learn therapeutic techniques so that he could help others change and improve their lives. Gavin went on to gain Diplomas in Professional Hypnotherapy, Hypno-analysis and Regression with the Midlands Institute of Hypnotherapy and has since increased his knowledge to Advanced Hypnotherapy level through SACH (School of Analytical and Cognitive Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy - http://www.sachinternational.com/). He is continuing his training to post-graduate level through the European Therapies Studies Institute with Mindfields College in London, using the Human Givens approach http://www.mindfields.org.uk/

 

Gavin holds a General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (GQHP) and is a  Nationally Registered Hypnotherapist (NRH) and is a member of the GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register - http://www.general-hypnotherapy-register.com/). The GHR is the registering agency for the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) which has been established following department of health guidelines, stating that each complementery or alternative profession (CAM) should have a single register of practitioners. The GHR currently hold the largest register of practitioners in the UK. The register is comprised of individual practitioners who are listed on the GHR website and is open to any hypnotherapist who is able to satisfy the criteria with regard to both on-going training and supervision. All registered practitioners are required to maintain adequate public liability and professional indemnity insurance and accept the GHR's code of ethics and practice, which ensure that your rights to privacy and confidentiality are always respected.

 

Gavin is also qualified in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and is registered with the AAMET (Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques).
